The process for changing conventional schools into accelerated schools was introduced in 1989, in order to improve student services. Existing approaches used to address student needs were not working.

The accelerated schools initiative is not a program, rather a holistic process to transform an entire school and involve the entire community.

Academic enrichment replaces remediation and all students can succeed.

The overall goal is to create the type of school we want for our own children, for all children.
