To prepare students to live in an international, multilingual community and to communicate effectively across cultural and linguistic boundaries |
|
Students will improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English as an aid to communication.
Students will study a foreign language to gain oral facility which they may use with native speakers from the local community and the world in general.
Students will experience other cultures through field trips, both local and foreign, with the possibility of an extended overseas experience for those who pursue it.
Students will learn the use of dialogue to avoid or solve conflict.
Students will study world literature as an aid to understanding the value systems of different cultures.
Students will study the fine arts to understand that through the arts, we have a common language.

| Goal 2 |
To prepare the students to be aware of the economic interdependence of countries in a world society
|
|
Students will understand and evaluate the different ways that various economic systems make the decisions necessary to translate scarce resources into achievement of their economic goals.
Students will understand how international trade and the world economy are related to economic welfare.
Students will learn the nomenclature of economics to enable comprehension of economic discussion, literature, and media articles dealing with the economy.
Students will research and argue speech and debate topics dealing with the world economy.

To prepare students to be aware of cultural differences and similarities in the world and in their own community |
|
Students will study major aspects of human life: the persistence of as well as variations in the attitudes toward the arts, faith, war, science, government, freedom, responsibility.
Students will study the holidays, foods, history, geography, social customs, newspapers, and current events of the countries whose languages they're learning.
Students will study world cultures through a required course in art, music, and drama appreciation.
Students will study the literature from all major cultures to illustrate man's unity as well as his diversity.
Students will learn to locate and use data about the world and its people.

To prepare students to understand the nature of ecological
and technological interdependence |
|
Students will learn the beneficial aspects of shared technology.
Students will understand the social costs of ecological balance.
Students will understand the interdependence of countries in maintaining an ecological balance.
Students will study math and science with the understanding that their purpose is to help people solve problems.
Students will study both the present and potential uses of available energy sources.

To prepare students in a foreign language as an additional aid
to their career plans |
|
Students will develop fluency in one foreign language during their four years.
Students will be exposed to career opportunities as presented by resource people.
Students will be encouraged to participate in internships provided by local industry.
Students will study careers clusters and will understand the competitive edge a knowledge of foreign language and cultures gives them.
Students will learn foreign marketing and production methods from films, seminars, and guest speakers.
