Welcome to the Waukegan High School JROTC Web Site!  

General Provisions

  1. Mission. The mission of the Army Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps program is "to motivate young people to be better citizens." This lofty objective is accomplished through a comprehensive program that is designed to:

    1. Develop informed and responsible citizens.
    2. Develop leadership potential and patriotism.
    3. Strengthen cadet character through the teaching of values associated with a life of service.
    4. Promote an understanding of the historical role of citizen soldiers and their service and sacrifice to the Nation.
    5. Create a desire to successfully complete high school.

  2. Objectives: The specific objectives of the JROTC Program are to:

    1. Develop leadership and patriotism.
    2. Develop informed and responsible citizens of character.
    3. Promote a historical understanding of the role of the citizen soldier in a Democratic society.
    4. Acquaint high school students with the technical requirements of the modern age.
    5. Develop the ability to logically arrange thoughts and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    6. Develop knowledge of educational and vocational opportunities.
    7. Develop an appreciation of the value of physical and mental fitness.
    8. Develop the basic skills necessary to work effectively as a team member.
    9. Provide the motivation and the means to graduate from high school and continue their education.
    10. Develop self-discipline, responsibility, and a positive response to constituted authority.
