WAUKEGAN WINS HONORS AT FREMD 4X5 SHOW!

Waukegan High School is proud to announce that Gerardo Olivares won an "Honorable Mention" award in the "Painting" category of the recent Fremd 4 x 5 show.  The Fremd show featured over 1300 small works of art from over 40 high schools.  20 Waukegan students participated in the show.  Gerardo's accomplishment was quite a feat to accomplish amidst so many outstanding works of art.  The frist photograph shown reveals a close-up of his art.  The next photograph shows Mrs. Carolyn Blanda, a  teacher from East Middle School, as well as an overview of the show.  In the third photograph, a closer look at some of the work on display reveals another Waukegan work (notice the colorful squares in the center of the top row) by Rohany Chapa.  Mr. Injasulian had eight students participate in the contest, and even included a work of his own in the "teacher's" 4 x 5 contest.  Mrs. Welker had 12 students participate and was in attendance at Fremd when the winners received their awards.

Waukegan High School participates in CSL Art Exhibit

CSL 7:

About 100 Waukegan students have art work on display in the 17th Annual Central Suburban League Art Exhibit.  The exhibit is being held at the Suburband Fine Arts Center, located at 1957 Sheridan Road in Highland Park, Illinois.
The opening reception was held on Friday, April 22nd.  That evening, Waukegan art teachers welcomedtheir students who arrived to view the show from 5-9 p.m.  The gala opening was filled with excitement as students, parents and friends from all of the Central Suburban League schools were in attendance.  Although the show only lasts until April 30th, the memories created by the exhibit will last a lifetime.  The following Waukegan High School instructors participated in this event:  Mr. Injasulian, Mrs. McArdle, Ms. Much, Ms. Paske, Mr. Texidor and Mrs. Welker.  Mr. Carl Johansen, fine arts department chair helped coordinate the exhibit.
