PSAE letter

Dear Waukegan High School Parents and Students,

On Wednesday, April 28, and Thursday, April 29, all juniors will be completing the Illinois State Assessment, Prairie State Achievement Exam. This exam requires two days of testing. On Wednesday, the juniors will complete the first component, the official ACT exam. Universities will accept this score for admission should the student elect to use it. Additionally, every junior will be eligible for a voucher to retake the ACT next fall on Saturday, October 30, free of charge. On Thursday, the juniors will complete the second phase of testing: Work Keys, which assesses a student's proficiency in math and reading skills as they relate to the work world, and the State created tests in writing, social studies and science. The results of the tests from both days will be posted on the student's high school transcript. To adhere to the testing procedures for PSAE as prescribed by the State, we have developed the following plan and schedule for our juniors:

Entry and Security Plan

1. All juniors enter the building at circle drive using Entrance " A" doors no later than 7:30 a.m. on both days. There will be a sign "PSAE" posted above the doors. Only 10 students at a time will be admitted into the school.

2. Upon arrival, each junior will need to present one form of picture identification. No temporary IDs will be issued on testing days.

3. No book bags will be allowed in the building. Lockers will not be accessible.

4. To complete the tests, each junior will need to bring a calculator and two sharpened pencils.

5. All testing will be conducted in the west end of the building. The entire area will be secured. There will be no outside traffic entering the testing areas. All areas will be closely monitored.

6. A continental breakfast will be served on both days from 7:30 to 8:lO in Cafeteria C.

7. On both dates, all students will need to be present in their assigned testing rooms by 8:10.
