How Can I Help?
Parents often ask us "How can I help my child be more literate or motivated in science?"
There are many answers to this question.
To help us at school:
Volunteer to be a field trip chaperone.
Check to see if your student is doing his/her science homework.
Check in with his/her teacher occasionally,especially if you have received an unsatisfactory progress report. (Our phone number is 1-847-360-5643)
Go to the SCIENCE LITERACY website (CLICK the words) Use the suggestions on the website for parents.
Encourage your children to investigate careers in Science.
Be Positive! Science is not as difficult as you may remember and they believe. Do not take "Science is too hard for me." as an excuse for getting low grades.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
(This one can make the most important difference for our students because we have all seen it MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!)
Have a ZERO tolerance for ANY grade below C!!!
Have a very skeptable attitude toward any grade below a B!
The more you adhere to this, the better your child will do in school.
