September 2007

The Stephens Center is coordinating a memorial for Lance Corporal Matthew S. Medlicott, a previous AOEC student. The planned memorial at the Stephens Center is a new flagpole with a plaque dedicating it to LCpl. Medlicott and lighting for the American flag. The memorial will replace the AOECs current wind-bent flagpole.  A spring dedication date is anticipated.

LCpl. Matthew Medlicott perished in combat August 25 while serving his 2nd tour of duty with the I Marine Expeditionary Force in Iraq.  He is the son of Mr. Bart Medlicott, Director of Orchestras at Waukegan High School and instrumental music teacher at several schools throughout District 60.

Donations to the memorial may be given to Mr. Dreyer or Mrs. Childs in the Main Office.  Checks should be made out to Waukegan Public Schools.
