Ms. Glattman-Hirsch (Ms. G-H) :

I grew up and went to high school in the city of Chicago. I received a bachelors and masters degree in science teaching at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. My major was originally Biology (Chem minor). I have taught math, physical science, and biology in junior high school. I also taught Chemistry at Evanston High School. I came to Waukegan High School 15years ago. I have been teaching for 23 years. I have taught Biology and Chemistry and for my past 12 years at WHS and have been an integral part of the CSP Chemistry Program. Although I wrote the first year Chemistry Curriculum for the school district, I believe it is "alive" and frequently experiment with new activities and topics for the "fun" of it and to add to its educational flavor.
I lost my husband last December,  Mr. Hirsch, who was the Dean of Instruction of Business & Industrial Technology at WHS. I have 2 grown children. Our son is a dentist and is married to a lovely bright podiatrist (foot surgeon). Our daughter is a marketing manager and is married to a bright young M.D.(medical doctor) They live in the Milwaukee area. I am Grandma of 2.
ASK ME ABOUT my grandsons,! I love to talk about them.
Besides my family, I love kids, chemistry, and technology. You will often see me tinkering in the lab!
MAKE SURE I AM WEARING MY GOGGLES!

Rankhorn:      2007Drank:

Mr. Rankhorn: (Mr. R)

Mr. Rankhorn grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. After high school and two years at Harper College, he became a police officer. He fought crime and ate doughnuts for 24 years before returning to college and receiving an Associate's Degree in Science from College of Lake County and a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Education from Northeastern Illinois University. He taught Biology at the ninth grade center for one year. This year is his fourth on the CSP Chemistry team at the upper grade center.  As part of his police training, Mr. R became an advanced open-water scuba diver on the Police/Fire Dive Rescue Team. He knows all about Boyle's Law. He also taught Emergency Medical Technician and CPR classes to fellow police officers. Can you say, "Heimlich maneuver?"
He has a daughter who will be going into ninth grade and is happy to say that her favorite subject in school is science.
In his spare time, Mr. R likes to garden, work on cars, travel, and WEARS HIS GOGGLES!
Do you want more information about Mr. R? Just ask him!
You will find him an easily accessible person.
