CSP Chemistry Grading Policy

CSP Chemistry Grading Procedures-

-Ms. Glattman-Hirsch, & Mr. Rankhorn

Points will be awarded for all assignments:

Color Codes:

  1. ASSIGNMENTS

  2. POINTS

  3. NOTES

Unit Tests                  250
Closed book, closed notes, Raw score recorded, Graded on a curve

Unit Notebook         125-300?
Consists of all notes, homework & other classwork

Lab Reports              75 each
Group or partner lab reports, (20 pts. for lab quizzes combined for each group.)

Chapter Quizzes      50-200 pts
These are USUALLY OPEN notes. Most can be retaken for higher points.

Video Notes             50 pts
Depends on number of questions.

PROJECTS                 200-500
Based on selected options

HOMEWORK              Non-graded *= 15-20 pts
(These points are included in the notebook). TWO THIRDS of the points will be subtracted if homework is NOT completed on the due Date (LATE). Some of these points can be earned back by completing the work and including the corrected assignment in your unit notebook.
INCOMPLETE work will receive commensorate credit.
*Other homework may be assigned that will be collected and graded for varied points
Extra Credit
POINTS VARY(LIMITED TO NO MORE THAN Up to 125 total/quarter)
Crossword puzzles: (15 points) For Other Extra Credit options: See Home. Also to be announced

Quarter Grades will be determined by the percentage of points earned:
100 - 97% A+
96 - 93% A
92 - 90% A-
89 - 87% B+
86 - 83% B
82 - 80% B-
79 -77% C+
76 -73% C
72 -70% C-
69 - 65% D+
64 - 60% D
59 - 0% F

ALL make-up work must be completed by 1 week after the Chapter Test is given. After this date the grade on missing work becomes = 0 (zero).

Late work not due to excused absences will be worth 1/2 credit only after the first day! Missed work due to unexcused absences and tardies may not be made up for credit.
Semester Grades:
Will be calculated as follows:
1st Quarter Grade= 40%
2nd Quarter Grade= 40%
Final Exam= 20%

This year ONLY:

Final exams CANNOT be exempted for students who acheive a 97% average for both quarters only! (Having a gold card is not enough!)
