Students in 3rd - 5th grade will participate in FITNESSGRAM testing. FITNESSGRAM is a comprehensive fitness assessment battery for youth. It includes a variety of health-related physical fitness tests designed to assess cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, and body composition. FITNESSGRAM is also a report card that summarizes the child's performance on each component of health-related fitness. Students and their families will receive a report and the report can be tracked over time.
PACER TEST (4th - 5th Grades)

The PACER test is a 15 meter running endurance test that is progressive in intensity that is easier at the beginning and harder at the end.

Students must run 15 meters(red line to red line int he gym) before the sound of a beep. When a beep is heard, they must run back to the the other line. This is continued until the student does touch the line before the beep two times. After each minute, the beeps will come faster.

CURL-UPS (3rd - 5th Grades)
|
The CURL-UP test, tests the strength and endurance of the abdominal muscles and are important in promoting good posture and correct pelvic alignment

Student lies on the floor, knees bent at an 140 degree angle, feet flat on the floor and palms facing down. At the tips of their fingers is a rubber strip (strips thicker for 5th grade). On signal from the CD, students must raise their head and shoulders and move their fingers to the end of the strip. On the down signal, students return to starting position with head on the mat. Students continue till they break proper form two times or completed the maximum score of 75.

PUSH-UPS (3rd - 5th Grades)

The PUSH-UP test, tests the strength and endurance of the upper body muscles.

Student starts int he up position. The student is in a 3 point stance with the palms of the hands flat on the floor, arms shoulder width apart, and toes touching the ground with feet slightly apart. On the down signal from the CD, students must flex their arms to a 90 degree angle. On the up signal, students extend their arms to 180 degree angle. Students continue till they break proper form twice, including not keeping up with the cadence.

BACK-SAVER SIT & REACH (3rd - 5th Grades)
|
This test, tests the flexibility of the student, important to functional health.

Students remove shoes and sit on the ground, one leg extended against the Sit and Reach box, the other knee bent with the sole of the foot flat on the floor. Hands are palm down and fingers lined equally with each other. The student reaches forward 4 times, pushing the slide, holding their hands on the 4th push. This is down with both legs. Maximum score is 12 inches.
