Principal's Summer Message

June 26, 2008

Dear Parent/ Guardian:

Happy Summer! As the days try to get warmer we are eagerly awaiting another school year to begin. We have a lot of new and exciting things going on for 2008-2009 school year. I would like to take this time to highlight some of our upcoming events. During the month of July we are running a first of its kind transitional program for 6th graders known as Jaguar Elite. This program will emphasize middle school transitioning and early college prep for students. We will also be running a sports camp for all students during this time. The dates of this program are July 14-25. For an application packet, call 847-360-5586.

In addition we will have a Parent Informational day on August 1st from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. where students will take ID pictures, receive Agenda Book, Student Handbook, and Student Discipline book. This will also be the time set aside to purchase school uniforms, yearbook, school spirit items, and our first ticket packet giving a 50% discount on the total value of the cost of dances, family fun nights, and dress down days. I will also present the „Jaguar Blueprint to Success‰ power point at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.

During the school year we will be opening our first reading and math lab full of learning materials for students to use during and after school. We will also continue to run our Response to Intervention and Positive Behavior Program. We have implemented a new homework policy known as Learning Reinforcement Initiative where the emphasis has been placed on practice, review, and reflection. In addition we will have a brand new sports program featuring new and returning sports such as track, volleyball, soccer, cheer, poms, softball, flag football, and wrestling. Also, as you come into the building we will have a new special parent lounge just for our special guests with valuable parent information.

We are looking forward to seeing you on July 14 if your child is participating in Jaguar Elite. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 1 at 12:00 p.m. for parent day. Please check our website to view the Student/Parent Handbook for 2008-2009. Also, please note the change in Dress Code for this upcoming year as you purchase school clothing. If you have any questions, feel free to call my personal office number at 847-360-5586.

Educationally yours,

Nicole K. Fishman Principal, Thomas Jefferson Middle School
