Decline of Topics Notice 08-09

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As we all know our students face many challenges with decision making and peer pressure. We try to educate students to our best ability by giving them information that is integral to keeping them safe and healthy. We provide this through our state mandated health courses. We also have speakers in from time to time from the Lake County Health Department, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other organizations that will also discuss issues such as STD‚s, hygiene, puberty, peer pressure, the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse, the dangers of gang violence, violence in teen relationships, and other topics that our students may see and face at some point during their middle school career. Our intent behind these programs is to educate our students; however, it is not our goal to parent students. If you wish to have your child to not participate in these informational sessions, please sign the decline form at the bottom and return it to the main office by October 17, 2008.

I, the parent of __________________________________, wish to decline the information presented to my child regarding the aforementioned topics. I understand that he/she will not be allowed to participate in the group or assembly sessions. Also, if there is a lesson regarding the aforementioned subjects during the state mandated health curriculum, I ask that my child be given a pass to study quietly in the library until such time as the unit is concluded. I do, however, understand that topics may come up unintentionally during a classroom discussion; this notice of decline refers to group sessions, assemblies, and health class topics.

Estimado Padres/ Tutores:

Como todos conocemos los estudiantes enfrentan muchos desafíos con la toma de decisiones y la presión ejercida por los iguales. Tratamos de educar a los estudiantes a nuestra mejor capacidad dándoles información que es integrante a mantenerlos seguros y sanos. Proporcionamos esto por cursos de salud cual nuestro estado puso bajo el mandato. Nosotros también tenemos personas de vez en cuando del Departamento de Salud de Condado de Lake, de Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, y de otras organizaciones que también hablaran de asuntos como ETS, la higiene, la pubertad, la presión ejercida por los iguales, los peligros de alcohol y consumo de drogas, los peligros de la violencia de pandillas, la violencia en las relaciones de jóvenes, y de otros temas que nuestros estudiantes pueden ver y puedan enfrentar en algún punto durante su carrera de colegio. Nuestra intención detrás de estos programas es para educar a nuestros estudiantes; sin embargo, no es nuestro objetivo criar a los estudiantes. Si usted desea no tener su niño tomar parte en estas sesiones informales, firme por favor la forma de descenso en el fondo y devuelva la a la oficina principal por el 17 de octubre de 2008.

Yo, el padre de ______________________________, deseo rehusar la información presentada a mi niño con respecto a los temas referidos. Comprendo que él/ella no será permitido/a tomar parte en las sesiones del grupo ni la asamblea. También, si hay una lección con respecto a los sujetos referidos durante el plan puesto bajo el mandato del estado de salud. Yo pido que mi niño sea dado un pase para estudiar en la biblioteca hasta que la unidad sea concluida. Sin embargo, yo comprendo que temas se pueden presentar involuntariamente durante una discusión en el salón; esta nota de descenso se refiere para las sesiones de grupo, las asambleas, y temas de clase de salud.
