Library Media Center Mission Statement
The Library Media Center is a fundamental part of the educational program. The mission of the LMC is to encourage, promote, and assist teachers and students, so they can be effective and discriminating users of ideas and information and to foster the reading habit and use of a library for lifelong learning.
Hours
The LMC and the Technology lab is open from 7:30 am - 3:00 pm.
Materials
The LMC checks out books for 3 weeks. Listening Tapes and Magazines are checked out for 1 week. Teachers can check out the dictionary cart, equipment, and videos for as long as they need it. Teachers can check out teacher materials from our Professsional Library.
The Library Media Specialist works with the teachers and students to provide information through learning activities that are integrated into the daily curriculum.
Our Technology Lab is a complete facility with 28 IBM compatible computers, all networked for the use of our students. We have the internet and online programs available to our students.
Procedures
1. Students can come to the LMC with a pass from the teacher to return books, study, or use the Technology Lab. (5 student maximum).
2. A teacher can sign up to bring a whole class to the LMC for instruction on the computers or to do research.
3. Students need to behave in the LMC, or they will be sent back to class.
4. No candy, gum, backpacks or coats will be allowed in the LMC or Technology Lab.
5. Books are fined 10 cents after 3 weeks. Magazines and books on tape are fined 50 cents after 1 week.
