Bibliography
When writing a bibliography, follow the exact order and punctuation of the examples. Be sure you're using the example that fits your source.
Book: Last name of the author, first name of the author. Title of the book. Place where the book was published: Publishing company, copyright date.
Example: Murphy, Jim. The Great Fire. New York: Scholastic, Inc., 1995.
Encyclopedia article: Last name of the author, first name of the author."Title of article." Title of the encyclopedia. Date of edition.
Example: Longyear, R.M. "Music." World Book Encyclopedia. 1998 ed.
Encyclopedia article w/no author: "Title of article." Title of the encyclopedia. Date of edition.
Example: "Medicaid." Encyclopedia Britannica. 1988 ed.
An almanac and a dictionary would follow the format of an encyclopedia article w/ no author.
Electronic Sources
Publication medium means CD-ROM or online.
Access date means the day YOU found the information.
URL means web site address.
World Wide Web, Home Page: Author or editor. (Copyright date). Title of page. [Publication medium]. Available: URL [Access date].
Example: Goizueta, R.C. (February 26, 1996). Annual report to share owners. [Online]. Coca-Cola Company. Available:
http://www.cocacola.com/co/chairman/html [November 14, 1996].
Online Encyclopedia Article: Author or editor. Title of article. (Date). In Source (edition) [Publication medium]. Producer. Available: URL [Search
term if necessary for retrieval]. [Access date].
Example: Stock Market Crash of 1929. (1995). In Britannica Online [Online]. Encyclopedia Britannica. Available: http:// www.eb.com [ìstock
marketî] [June 7, 1996.].
Online Magazine Article: Author. (Date). Title of article. Magazine title. [Publication medium]. Volume, paging. Name of computer service or
database. Available: URL [Access date].
Example: Rosner, H. (March 4, 1996). Will e-mail become j-mail? Brandweek [Online]. 37, 30. ABI/INFORM. Available: telnet://melvyl.ucop.edu
