Parent/Family Involvement DataSchool Level Little Fort's Parent/Community Involvement Goal is to continue ESL classes, provide more ways to have parents participate and support their children≠s education not only at home but at school. Also Little Fort≠s PTO has purchased the School Messenger for an efficient method to communicate with parents. Little Fort staff will continue to provide various forms of communication with parents. Parent involvement goals were developed through written parent surveys. Surveys were provided to parents at all major school activities. Also a parent survey was provided to the entire parent population in March' 03. Staff diligently assisted in the process. As a result, a high return/response was received. Teachers reviewed, tallied and analyzed their parents' responses. A Little Fort School compact/partnership pledge was provided to all families in both Spanish and English translations. The compacts indicated expectations for staff, students and parents to support student learning and achievement. Grade level family picnics were held in the fall of FY 03-04 and FY 04-05. These events provided a very informal and relaxed environment for parents. Parents felt comfortable to share feedback with the teachers and the administration. The parents' feedback and the results from the parents' surveys were then addressed in the school improvement plan.
