History

The school was built in 1962 and named after former Waukegan Elementary Superintendent, Dr. H.R. McCall. We were a neighborhood school in the beginning of our existence, but approximately 10 years ago with the influx of students into the Waukegan School District, our boundaries were expanded. Shortly thereafter, all Waukegan Schools were asked to select a focus, or theme to represent their school. Here at McCall School, we chose Science as our main thrust of integration. A portable classroom was renovated to become our self-contained science center. McCall School has maintained a high level of academic success; while retaining the personalization of a home school. In 1998 – 1999 an addition was added to the original structure to welcome 10 classes of special needs students. We have grown from approximately 22 staff members to over 60 staff members. With approximately 425 students.
