Jenny Chang

Hi! I am Jenny Chang. My parents immigrated
from Korea in May of 1973. I was born the
next month in Chicago, but moved to Waukegan when I was five years
old. I attended all Waukegan schools. I went to Oakdale from kindergarten through 2nd grade, and then Cooke Magnet until 5th grade. Then, I attended Jack Benny Junior High, and Waukegan West and graduated in 1991. I then went onto DePaul University where I was a music major. I play the violin and piano. I decided to transfer to Northern and go into Elementary Education. I graduated in December of 1995.I started teaching at Cooke Magnet as a permanent sub from January of 1996 until June. I was then hired at North and have been here ever since August of 1996. During that time, I also worked on my master's degree in curriculum and instruction and completed that in February of 2001.
I love everything about North School - the staff, the kids, and the
families, and plan to be here a long time!

This is my seventh year at North and definitely the best so far. I have a WONDERFUL class. It consists of 22 girls and 8 boys. They are a mix of students coming from both bilingual and monolingual second grade classes. They are hard-working and well-behaved. I was nervous about having 30 kids, but because they are 30 great kids, I look forward to coming to work everyday. I will miss them when they go to 4th grade.
