2006 Patriotic Program

On October 19, 2006, the third grade classes performed in a patriotic program called "This is America".  Students from Ms. Lopez's class performed the opening act which included the title song "This is America".  Mr. Gomez's class then continued with a skit and song called "I Love My Country".  The next class to perform was Ms. Thompson's class.  They dressed as heroes, pioneers, patriots, and soldiers.  Their song was called "American Tear".  Finally, Ms. Ospina's class performed a rap called "Mighty United".  The classes then came together for the finale which included a parade of states.  The song was entitled "Lights of Freedom".  The show ended with  "God Bless America" and the audience was asked to partipate.  Special guests from the community including the Deputy Chief of Police, members of the school board, administrators from Lincoln Center, and Waukegan City Aldermen attended.  The colors were presented by the American Legion.  Former Oakdale principal David Mackie, and former assistant principal Joyce Meyer were also in attendance.
