3rd -5th GRADES
On Tuesday, November 14, 2006 the students "Celebrated a Variety of Literature". Students had a chance to read and solve mysteries, heard different poems, were introduced to biographies by learning little facts about presidents, their families, and their pets. The evening ended with the fairy tale The Paperbag Princess; the students joined in with sound effects for key words. All Oakdale students left with a free book, juice, and cookies.
1st-2nd GRADES
The first and second graders attended Pillows and Pages on Thursday, November 16, 2006. They "Celebrated" Family Reading Night with folktales. The students went to four different stations. At one station they heard the folktale, The Bossy Gallito, in English and Spanish. The students also got to make a bookmark. At a third station the students provided the various noises for the folktale, Too Much Noise. Finally, the students made their own noise makers and there really was too much noise!. All of Oakdale's first and second graders left with a free book, animal cookies, and juice.
