Oakdale Elementary held its
annual school level Spelling Bee on Wednesday, January 18, 2006.
Students in grades 4 and 5 had the opportunity to participate in this
Spelling Bee, which was sponsored by the Chicago Tribune. Each of
our 4th and 5th grade classes sent 3 student representatives to
participate in the Spelling Bee. The contest began at 1:30
p.m. with 30 participants, an audience of 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade
students, and many parents in attendance. Anticipation, anxiety,
and excitement were the prevailing emotions of the afternoon. The
winner of our Spelling Bee will go on to compete at the sections l
level Spelling Bee, which is scheduled for February 21st at Antioch
Upper Grade School.
