Internship Opportunities
District 60 has served as an intern training site for more than 30 years. During this period we provided training for more than 30 professional psychologists. It is our experience that due to the size of our district and the diversity of our special populations in terms of handicapping conditions, the comprehensive intern experience provided by District 60 prepares psychologists to work in any public school setting and across all grade levels. Within the district we have programs and services for every IDEA exceptionality and within our school age population one may find virtually every condition described in the textbooks. These conditions and more make Waukegan fertile ground for professional growth experiences.
Typically, we attract interns from the nearby universities, e.g. National-Louis University, Loyola, and Governors State, However, we have worked with interns from more distant universities such as, Illinois State University, Southern Illinois University, Western Illinois University, University of Minnesota, Tufts University, and North Carolina.
Prospective interns should request an application from: Mr. Fredrick Howard, Associate Superintendent for Human Resources, Waukegan Public School District 60, 1201 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan, Illinois 60085. Please print: Attention Dr. Christina Conolly-Wilson on the top right cover of the application. Complete and return the application to Mr. Howard. To complete the process, the applicant should mail an official transcript (if available), three letters of recommendation, and a resume to: Dr. Christina Conolly-Wilson, Psychological Services, Waukegan Community Unit School District 60, 1201 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan, Illinois 60085. Finally, the applicant should contact Dr. Christina Conolly-Wilson at 847-360-5580 to arrange an interview.
