Literature Collections

  • Literature Annotations
    • This site offers a variety of online texts with annotations. The Literature, Arts, & Medicine Database is an annotated bibliography of prose, poetry, film, video and art which was developed to be a dynamic, accessible, comprehensive resource in Humanities.
  • The Modern English Collection
    • This heterogeneous collection contains fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, letters, newspapers, manuscripts and illustrations from 1500 to the present, arranged for browsing by author's last name or by category of interest.
  • eTexts
    • These directories contain public domain electronic texts (etexts) in the areas of American (1700-Present) and English (700-Present) literature as well as Western (400-Present) philosophy. Each item is saved alphabetically by file name in a directory representing the century it was written. Each file name is divided into three parts: the last name of the author, the first word of the work, and a local accession number.
  • American Literature on the Web
    • This set of American literature resource pages is mainly a collection of links to sites on the Internet especially dealing with American literature and its social, cultural contexts. It includes homepages and documents on over 300 authors and electronic texts of their works. I have also included literary indexes which contain pointers to individual author sites, electronic texts or other related materials.
  • Chiricahua and Mescalero Apache Texts
    • The Chiricahua and Mescalero Apache are two tribes, closely related in both language and culture, who formerly lived in adjacent areas of southern New Mexico and Arizona. The texts presented in this volume were collected in the summers of 1930 and 1931, and in the spring of 1934.
  • African American Writers : Online E-texts
    • Welcome to the Internet School Library Media Center (ISLMC) African American Writers Page. The ISLMC is a meta site which brings together resources for teachers, librarians, parents and students. To retrieve e-texts, you may need to search by author at the site indicated.
  • Native American Literature
    • This is a collection of online texts from Native American Authors. Authors include Zitkala-Sa, Angel DeCora and Paul Peter Buffalo.
  • Classic African American Literature
    • This is a collection of online texts from African American Authors. Authors include Harriet Beecher Stowe, Martin Luther King Jr. and Booker T. Washington.
  • Social Justice Speeches Project
    • This is a collection of famous speeches. Authors include Malcom X, Martin Luther King Jr. and Chief Joseph.

  • eNotes
    • Enotes are content-rich study guides that include an introduction to the work, an author biography, a plot summary to help readers unravel and understand the events in the work, descriptions of important characters, analysis of important themes, and excerpts of published criticism. Many Enotes also contain essays and important quotations or excerpts with commentary. Each guide is specifically designed to meet the needs of high school and undergraduate college students and their teachers, as well as the interests of general readers. You can find over 1000 titles including The Iliad and Odyssey, Macbeth, The Scarlet Letter and Beowolf.
