  • Avoiding Plagiarism
    • Academic writing in American institutions is filled with rules that writers often don't know how to follow. A working knowledge of these rules, however, is critically important; inadvertent mistakes can lead to charges of plagiarism or the unacknowledged use of somebody else's words or ideas. While other cultures may not insist so heavily on documenting sources, American institutions do. A charge of plagiarism can have severe consequences.
  • Academic Integrity and Documentation-Citations
    • Students are often confused by the many terms used when we discuss documenting sources—the process by which we acknowledge the use of another’s words, ideas, conclusions, information, data, graphics, and products. These terms—citations, footnotes, endnotes, works cited, references, bibliography—are associated with a particular documentation style, namely, APA or MLA.

The aim of this site is to help you avoid low grades, lost employment opportunities, lost business, and titters of amusement at the way you write or speak.

If you follow a few simple steps, you will find that the essay almost writes itself. You will be responsible only for supplying ideas, which are the important part of the essay anyway.
