This winter, 2006, Waukegan Public Schools provided several Instructional Technology Professional Development opportunities to teachers. The program focused on the following three areas: district-organized workshop offerings, three hours of site-based professional development, and $200 of individually selected technology workshops or online courses.
-
A district-offered program, based on survey feedback, ran in January and February, 2006. Workshops will again be offered in May and during the week of June 12, 2006. (See Workshops Spring and Summer 2006 link at left.)
- 3 hours per building of on-site instructional technology workshops, based on need, as determined by each school's technology professional development survey results (given to the Principal and Technology Committee representative). Proposal forms, were due by January 24, 2006 or three weeks prior to the workshop start date, whichever is earlier.
- Limited opportunities are available to all certified staff for online workshops and technology conferences (up to $200 per teacher). Participation was granted on a first-come, first-served basis. The following four items were submitted three weeks prior to the event: a Technology Professional Development form, Non-SIP Requisitions for workshop fee (and also one for a substitute if applicable), Orange Professional Leave Form (if applicable), and the workshop or course's registration form.
For workshops or classes that require online registration, paper work was submitted first. The P.O. was then given to staff member for online registration.
Note: Please see this web site or your building's Technology Committee Representatives for online course ideas, technology conference ideas, and forms.
