About Web Central
Mission of Web Central / District Web Manager
-
To use the Internet to enhance communication with students,
parents, staff, and the community by giving district schools,
departments, and teachers access to their own web site, housed on
district webserver(s).
-
To allow web editors to manage and maintain their own web sites
instantly.
-
To provide information and assistance to all district web
editors.
Types of District Web Sites
Every district web site falls into one of the following categories:
- District-Wide Sites
-
Pages not related to any particular school are generally
maintained by the District Web Manager and overseen by the
Superintendent or another administrator.
- School Sites
-
School sites are maintained by one or more school web editors. If
the school does not have a web editor, the District Web Manager
maintains its web site. School sites are overseen by the school
principal and the District Web Manager.
- Department / Team Sites
-
Departments (e.g. WHS Science) or Teams (e.g. Juarez Bilingual
Team) may have a site maintained by one or more members of the
department / team. These sites are overseen by the school
principal and the District Web Manager.
- Classroom / Library Sites
-
Teachers and staff may have a web site to communicate about their
classroom or library media center. These sites are overseen by the
school principal and the District Web Manager.
Training
Training will also be on a voluntary basis. School and department web editors must complete the first and second training phases (advanced training classes are optional). Teachers and staff must complete the first training phase to get a classroom or library website (Phase II and advanced training classes are optional).
