Adding Pictures
Adding Pictures to Your Web Page
-
Edit your photo as necessary. (Manila is not a photo editing tool.
Once you have the photo or graphic loaded, you can not change the
size or make any changes.) A rough guideline for picture size
should be around 300 x 400 pixels.
-
Make sure that you saved your picture as a GIF or JPG and put it
someplace convenient (like the Desktop). (This will save you some
trouble when you have to locate it and upload it.)
-
Select Pictures in the
Editors Only menu.
-
Click Create a New Picture (above
the list of pictures).
-
Browse to find your file. (Make sure you select the file with the
GIF or JPG extension.)
-
Once you have selected the right file, click
OK /
Open.
-
If you haven't given the picture a title, do that now.
-
If your want to add text to your picture, enter it now. (You don't
have to enter any text; it is not displayed with the picture.)
-
When you are done, click the Post New
Picture button.
Notice: Once your picture is loaded you will see it and you will see a note under the graphic. This note will say something like:
To include this picture in a page, type "The Title You Gave
Your Picture", including quotes.
This means that when you want to add this picture into a story, just type the title inside quotes for the picture to appear.
I have run into problems uploading pictures with Mac OS 9. What I have found is that since OS 9 doesn't add a file extension, Manila can't upload it. To work around this, you have to add the extension yourself. For example, if the a JPEG on your desktop is “Picture1”, add “.jpg” to make it “Picture1.jpg”. That seems to solve the problem.
