Summer School, Class Rank and College Studies Program (CSP)
SUMMER SCHOOL Summer School opens one week after the close of the regular school year in June and continues for six weeks. Most classes are held between 8:00 AM and 12:05 PM. A student may enroll for a maximum of two classes and Driver Education. Each class is two hours in length and carries one semester's credit if completed successfully.
CLASS RANK WHS applies a weighted grade point sponsor in computing grade point averages for class rank and eligibility for National Honor Society. See the WHS Course Offering Guide for details.
COLLEGE STUDIES PROGRAM (CSP) The College Studies Program, CSP,is a "school within a school" for college- bound students on both the honors and college-prep levels. The program offers each student an opportunity to enroll in eight classes per semester instead of the standard six or seven. The program requires four years of each of the following: literature/composition, social studies, mathematics, laboratory science, and foreign language. It also requires special courses in the humanities and speech/debate. In addition, the CSP provides students with interdisciplinary approaches to its five core disciplines and extra opportunities such as seminars, tournaments, field trips, guest speakers, symposiums, special counseling, and summer overseas travel. The aims of the program are to allow students to maximize their educational opportunities. to provide students with a strong liberal arts and sciences background. and to promote student growth and a well- rounded perspective.
