Lake County High Schools Technology Campus

The Lake County High Schools Technology Campus was designed for the purpose of a cooperative provision of extended vocational education opportunities for juniors and seniors of the Lake County high schools. The Tech Campus could provide more extensive and dynamic programs of vocational training. Students can attain employable skills through a series of technical pathways that integrate academic and vocational studies and link high school training to post-secondary education. Cooperation among the participating 19 high school districts provides both the funding and enrollment, which ensures the greatest scope and variety.

EDUCATIONAL APPROACH OF LCHS TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS
The Technical Pathways Program is distinguished by three goals:

  1. To recognize career-bound students by confirming their developed competence and achievement in challenging school-based courses and projects during their high school years
  2. To provide motivating influence for students as they progress through high school by involving local businesses and industries in an interactive progress that gives positive reinforcement and support and sets intermediate goals with students
  3. To certify to post-secondary institutions and potential employers in business and industry: (1) the extent of student achievement in those areas that may be required to satisfy current admissions policies, and (2) the acquisition of employability skills and experience

At the end of each year, the student would develop a work plan for the next 12 months, taking into account summer work or study plans, anticipated course work and part-time work. The plan would contain intermediate goals or milestones to establish expectations and recognize and reinforce accomplishment as the student progresses through the program. Each student would document his or her accomplishments in a portfolio designed to demonstrate that the student had acquired certain skills or experiences as stipulated for meeting the standards and requirements of the program.

LCHS TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS CERTIFICATE
Upon satisfactory completion of one and/or two years of the student's program at the LCHS Tech Campus, the student is awarded a LCHS Tech Campus Certificate of Completion. This certificate will be very helpful to students in applying for employment, verifying their acquired skills and/or planning further education with a college or trade school advisor.
