Student Conduct...
Student Rules and Regulations The Tech Campus is an extension of your branch home high school; therefore, your home school's Code of Conduct, Rules and Regulations, and Consequences of Inappropriate Behavior are in effect.
You are responsible for all information contained in the Technology Campus Student Handbook. A signed statement indicates that you have participated in your program's orientation session(s), are aware of the specific procedures and rules within your program, and have received a Technology Campus Student Handbook, and will be kept on file in the Student Services Office.
Any school that does not have good student behavior will not be able to operate effectively. Good student behavior is everyone's business and responsibility. This means that student, teacher, administrators and parents have an important part in developing proper attitudes.
When students apply for admission to the Tech Campus they make a tentative decision about their future. As students, they will have many opportunities to work independently and at their own rate of speed. This places a responsibility on the students to control their own actions in ways becoming to young adults.
Thus, written rules and regulations are minimal; courtesy and consideration are excellent substitutes for them. The best guideline for youth to follow is to act, dress, and cooperate with others in a way that would be acceptable in the business world.
LCHS TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS DISCIPLINE POLICY Students may be suspended or expelled for the following reasons: smoking, fighting, chemical abuse, insubordination, intimidation of students, arson and related offenses, failure to comply with directives, theft, private property damage, dangerous instrument, weapons, gang related activities, sexual activity, gambling, inappropriate behavior, and other kinds of misconduct.
The penalties may be modified or adjusted by the Director/Assistant Director for Student Services to the best interest of the individual or the school. The Grayslake Police Department will be involved in any illegal activities. Keep in mind, the Tech Campus does not have an in-school suspension so all disciplinary actions will be closely coordinated with each home school.
Students who find themselves involved in repeated disciplinary actions and rule infractions will be placed on probation. While on probation, students will be closely monitored and evaluated by the instructor, Assistant Director of Student Services, home school official, and administration for a specified period of time. Poor attendance, repeated tardiness to class, inappropriate classroom behavior, safety violations, insubordination, and disrespectful behavior are among the behaviors that may result in probation.
Parents will be required to attend a conference outlining specific student expectations while on probation. In the event that the identified behaviors do not improve, the administration may withdraw a student from the Tech Campus.
STUDENT IDENTIFICATION CARDS Students enrolled at the Tech Campus are required to have their home
school identification card and Tech Campus identification card in their possession at all times
HALL PASSES Students will not be permitted to leave their classroom or laboratory without the specific approval of their instructor.
When students are not in class during a Tech Campus session, they will be expected to have a Tech Campus hall pass signed by their instructor or the Assistant Director for Student Services.
STUDENT VISITORS Prospective students are required to obtain a Visitors Pass to visit a program(s) at the Tech Campus for academic purposes. This must be prearranged and approved by the home school, Tech Campus Instructor, and the Assistant Director for Student Services at the Tech Campus two (2) days in advance of the proposed visit. Students interested in visiting the Tech Campus must contact their home school Vocational Director for information and authorization.
CODE OF DRESS Tech Campus instructors may establish rules of clothing or hairstyles that they deem necessary for the safety of students within the context of the program area that they teach. Clothing or hairstyles that are dangerous to the health or safety of the student or others are not permitted. In some programs, safety equipment such as face shields or safety glasses are required. Students must comply with the safety requirement posted in their program areas.
POSSESSION OF PORTABLE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT The possession and/or use of electronic paging devices/cellular phones is strictly prohibited on school property or at any school activity; so designated by Illinois School Code-Chapter 105,5/10-21.10. Use of portable radios, cassette/CD players and personal television, etc. is prohibited during the school day.
FIRE AND DISASTER DRILLS In compliance with regulations governing schools' observing fire and disaster drills, several of these drills are scheduled during the school year. Instructors post important information with regard to evacuation procedures and exit routes and they explain safety precautions and procedures to students.
FIELD TRIPS Students are expected to participate in field trips scheduled by their Tech Campus instructor. Permission forms must be obtained in advance and signed by all appropriate individuals. Students who do not have completed field trip permission forms on the day of the trip will not be permitted to participate. They will be given an assignment by their instructor and assigned to the Student Library/Resource Center for the class period.
EXTENDED CAMPUS For some Tech Campus programs, students occasionally attend class or receive on-site vocational training in a setting away from the LCHS Tech Campus. This type of training is provided within the time frame of the Tech Campus session in which the student is enrolled. In several Tech Campus programs, off-campus activities become an integral part of the student's educational experience.
TECHNOLOGY CAMPUS OFFICE AT WHS The Tech Campus Office for WHS students is located in room W143. For any assistance or questions regarding the Tech Campus, please report to this office.
