Handicapped Student Policy
THE HANDICAPPED STUDENT NOTIFICATION (4.04) Psychological evaluations, special education files and other information contained in student temporary records (or copies thereof) which may be continued assistance to the student may be transferred to the custody of the parent or student upon the graduation or permanent withdrawal of a handicapped student. These records may be helpful in obtaining some types of social security benefits or other benefits for the handicapped from other agencies.
GRADUATION, TRANSFER AND PERMANENT WITHDRAWAL NOTICES
(4.03 & 4.04 NOTIFICATIONS)
Each school district must notify parents and students of certain provisions prior to the student leaving the school district.
a. The 4.03 notification is for students in the standard school program.
b. The 4.04 notification concerns handicapped students.
THE STANDARD SCHOOL PROGRAM NOTIFICATION (4.03)
Parents and students are hereby notified that the district will maintain permanent student records for a minimum of 60 years and temporary records for a maximum of 5 years from the time a student graduates, transfers or permanently withdraws from the school district. Parents/students have the right to request copies of such records at any time prior to the records' destruction.
